Happy New Year! Wishing you a happy, healthy 2018
Happy New Year!! We had a fabulous New Year’s Eve party in our gathering room last night full of fun, fellowship and FOOD! What a lot of great food! Our resident crooners entertained us with song and our campers entertained us with stories from the road. It was a wonderful night here at Twin Oaks RV Park culminating with a roaring fire in the great outdoors and a park full of friends ringing in a happy new year together. We are so very thankful for this park, our fabulous staff and wonderful campers – some of you just stop in once in a while – others are here for longer – but each of you adds a richness and depth to this place that cannot be replicated.
There are so very many things we have to be grateful for from the past year. We and our staff have enjoyed good health. Our families are mostly healthy and alive. We have had plenty of food, fun and friends. These are things we enjoy in abundance at Twin Oaks. We have so much fun – so many laughs – and interesting stories to tell.
We enjoyed a whole host of new travelers found via Google searches or Air BNB – technologies that didn’t exist a decade ago – bringing us interesting new friends from places far and wide, including several foreign countries. Additionally, in 2017, we found a terrific company to update our big sign out front for great price. We replaced two of our aging golf carts. And as always, we had a fabulous summer full of outdoor fun in the pool and parties under the pool tent.
We survived hurricanes Irma and Maria and the onslaught of harried, worried travelers who had been on the road often for 16 hours or more, fleeing homes they may not see again. Our power held up. Our water held up. Our restrooms held up. And our staff held up! In fact, Mike was able to pound in the last nails on the new roof of the showerhouse we had gutted. We were able to renovate that poor little crumbling showerhouse into a soon-to-be showplace, so much so that we are planning a grand opening cocktail party in there very soon!
Almost all of our wonderful full-timers are still with us, and those who moved on did so for happy reasons, and continue to stay in touch. Our workcampers, Sue and Tony returned this fall with their highly valued skills and talents as well as fun-loving personalities. Our part-time local crew member, Heather has stayed with us and was in fact, a rock during those hurricanes. And we continue to be blessed with the good fortune of having Lisa and Mike Gannaway as managers of our little park. Better folks could not be found if we hunted far and wide.
Our blessings are deep and rich and we are fully aware of how fortunate we are to be a part of this little place in space and time. We are so grateful to our customers for continuing to endorse us with your business, your friendship and your support.
May you all enjoy good health, happiness and prosperity in 2018 and beyond!
Happy New Year!
Sue & John
