Happy New Year!

NewYear-at-TWIN-OAKS-RV-PARK-Elko-Perry-GeorgiaWe had a fabulous New Year’s party in our gathering room last night full of fun, fellowship and FOOD! What a lot of great food! Our resident entertainer, June Jenkins played the keyboard and entertained us with song and our campers all entertained us with stories from the road. It was a wonderful night here at Twin Oaks RV Park culminating with a roaring fire in the great outdoors and a park full of friends ringing in a new year together.

May you all enjoy good health, happiness and prosperity in 2012 and beyond!

The Fair to Beat All Fairs

The Georgia National Fair has ended once again but for ten days in October, it was the rockinest place in the state!  We had SO much fun – I enjoyed the beautiful quilts and artwork on display, Ali and her friend Allie enjoyed the rides and the livestock (they are pictured here with a camera-friendly spotted llama) and John couldn’t get enough out of the Lumberjack show.  I have to say, that show was pretty impressive.   Who do you know that can cut down a 12″ diameter tree with a simple hacksaw in about one minute? Or hoist heavy logs into a pool of water? Or toss those hacksaws at a dartboard, making sure to stick it in the bullseye? The food is wonderful too as is the unending musical entertainment.

I am sad that I missed out on the goats though.  They were only there the first week, and we missed them.  I just love goats, and actually own several.  My goats live in various parts of the world though, with other families. My goal is to have a couple of my own someday.  Watch for them—you just never know when I’ll adopt a few!

At any rate, plan ahead! Be sure to write Georgia National Fair on your calendar next year for October 4-14, 2012 and make a reservation to stay with us at Twin Oaks RV Park! And when you’re here, stay a little longer and be sure to treat yourself to the annual Big Pig Jig in Vienna, (that’s Vi-Enna) Georgia November 2-3, 2012.  I promise, these events will make for memorable fun!

Oh, and if you want goats of your own and are willing to have them live somewhere else in the world, buy one from Heifer International for a needy family for Christmas and make an enormous difference in someone’s life!

You better watch out!

Got a $64,000 question: What does Santa do in the summer? Why he RVs with his wife of course!! And he took time from his lazy summer vacation schedule to make an overnight stop right here at Twin Oaks RV Park! This Santa in reality is a professional Santa whose real name is Richard Regenburgh. For those who believe, Santa spent the night here at Site #9 — you may wish to book your own night at site #9 and stay in the very place that Santa stayed!

Georgia National Fair
Plan to attend the most fun on earth at the Georgia National Fair in Perry, Georgia October 6-16, 2011!

Where else on the planet can you go to see things like “Kachunga & The Alligator Show“, “MUTTON BUSTIN’”, “Timberworks Lumberjack Show”, or “Tim Decker: Precision Speed Painter”? (Actually, I saw Tim at the Piedmont Park Arts Festival and to this day I regret that I didn’t outbid the lady next to me for his John Lennon speed portrait that day!) Then there’s blacksmithing, a sea lion show, a bear show, and Earnest T. – that rock throwin’, poetry spoutin’, crazy mountain man everyone loves! And that’s all just Page 1 of listings for the ten day festival! There’s a hypnotist, a petting zoo and racing pigs too! In fact, there are too many events to list here.

Twin Oaks RV Park featured on WMGT – Macon

Twin Oaks RV Park (and Lisa!) was featured on a report by Kyle Warnke from WMGT out of Macon in his report about Holiday “Stay-cations”.  We do have quite a few local campers who like to come to the park in their RVs and enjoy the relaxing pool, hot tub and community room.  Twin Oaks makes a nice weekend ‘getaway’ even if you’re only traveling a dozen miles.

Twin Oaks Grand Re-Opening Weekend was a big success

Thanks for the flowers Mary Ann and Keith!

We had a fabulous Grand Re-Opening weekend here at Twin Oaks RV Park!  The weekend began with a wonderful breakfast and ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Perry Chamber of Commerce and attended by over two dozen local business leaders from the Perry area.  We had a great time and fantastic weather for the outdoor photo op featuring new owner, John Heslup cutting the ribbon with the chamber’s giant scissors!

The fun continued with a Friday evening cocktail party complete with delicious peach daiquiris made with Lane Peaches.  Saturday was chock full of fun as we enjoyed locally grown watermelon slices at the pool and a bratwurst and beer cookout in the evening!  The evening was capped off with live entertainment by Starbound Entertainment Group’s 9-year-old Aaron Houck, here with his grandparents, Dan and Brenda Tschan.  Aaron sang and danced to pop tunes while the campers clapped and danced along!   Great camping fun for every age!  Sunday we had a coffee and continental breakfast as many of our big rigs rolled on to their next big adventure.  We hope to see you all back here soon!

Thanks to our many well-wishers and loyal customers for all of your friendship and support!  We look forward to a happy and prosperous year at Twin Oaks!

(Special thanks to Keith and Mary Ann for the flowers!)

Twin Oaks Grand Re-Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Plan on joining us Friday, June 24 for our Grand Re-Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony! The Perry Chamber of Commerce has graciously offered to host a ribbon cutting for us at 9:00 am. The day will continue with games, food and fun giveaways in celebration of our new ownership of the park. To provide relief from the Georgia heat, a cocktail party featuring Lisa’s “special” sno-cones will take place Friday afternoon. Continuing on, we will be grilling brats and hot dogs and a will have watermelon party at the pool on Saturday.

We plan to make a day of it! Feel free to stop in and join the fun and if you’re already at the park – come on out and enjoy the day!
